This experience will include a guided hike into the Rio Grande Bosque area. Treks along the river corridor will give us opportunities for wildlife viewing and a chance to experience this unique ecosystem. With an emphasis on viewing wildlife, identifying wildlife tracks, observing plants and the local geology and hydrology. All with the goal of furthering our appreciation and understanding of this ecosystem and it’s importance to native plants, wildlife and local communities.
You will have opportunities for photographs at stunning vistas. I will be equipped with local field guides, binoculars, and other field equipment. We will check game cameras set in the field to observe recent wildlife activity. Coffee or tea will be provided at a beautiful observation point long the trail. Hikes will typically last 2-3hours.
Additional viewing of the iconic Sandia Mountains as they turn a beautiful pink at sunset is also possible. Albuquerque is famous for its sunsets and the "pink moment" just before sunset on the Sandia Mountains. Being at the right place at the right time is critical for capturing this moment in all its splendor. We can end the day with a salute to the mountains and river and watch the sunset, reflecting on our experience that day.
Join me in an adventure found only here in New Mexico, at the edge of our city in the heart of the wilderness.
