One Day in Soweto
Discover the history of Soweto, where political icons lived during Apartheid, fighting against the regime. Explore the everyday life, meet the locals, taste local cuisine and get an authentic experience with a Sowetan native guide. Start at the Hector Pietersen Museum and hear about the Soweto uprising that transpired in 1976, which was one the turning point of Apartheid. Be introduced to the famous house of Nelson Mandela in Vilakazi Street, built in 1945, where he lived until he was imprisoned for 27 years. Have a conversation about Arch bishop Desmond Tutu in the famous street in Vilakazi Street. Continue through Orlando East, the first formal settlement of Soweto and Orlando Stadium, Soweto football giants, the Orlando Pirate and ride a minibus taxi to the last stop at the Orlando Towers. Listen to the many personal stories about the family's generations, how apartheid had an impact in each and everyone of them and how Soweto has changed today. Enjoy a traditional, local lunch of Kota (Local burger)
One Day in Jo'burg
Walk through the city centre and feel the bustle and hustle of the people, lifestyle and culture of Johannesburg. Visit Nelson Mandela's Law firm and discover gems. Meeting in Market Theatre, in Newtown, then move on to the Workers Museum, the last surviving municipal compound for African men in Johannesburg. Continue to Chancellor House, where Nelson Mandela and OR Tambo set up South Africa’s first black-owned law firm. Uncover Main Street, which offers some of the best architectural buildings in the city. Main Street will lead us to Gandhi Square, a busy urban hub of commercial and retail activity. From there, move on to the Top of Africa, inside the tallest skyscraper on the continent (temporarily Closed, till further notice). We will take local transport to Maboneng, an art district dedicated to young entrepreneurs for a BBQ Local lunch (vegan, vegetarian friendly).
Design a bespoke African print masterpiece with Caraci
Custom bomber jacket/ an African print clothing item experience - from concept to finished garment Explore and experience Johannesburg’s fashion district like never before. The Fashion Capital and the historical fashion square are located in the old Johannesburg city. The designer will walk with you to fabric shops in the inner city, where you will select a unique African print that you love from hundreds of options. You will then meet a member of his design team and have your measurements taken. You will collaborate with them on the creation of your custom jacket. The experience is paired with a photoshoot in the trendy neighbourhoods of Maboneng and Braamfontein, and a vlog video of the whole experience will be recorded and shared at the end (optional). 1. Choose a unique African print from one of our local fabric stores (fabric included). 2. Learn how to take body measurements for the making of clothing garments. 3. Cut the pattern and pieces for your custom bomber jacket or any other item made in African print (discuss with us via messages on the possibility) 4. Learn basic stitching and hand sewing in a practical lesson, while putting together your garment (expert studio assistants will guide you). 5. While you enjoy lunch, your bomber jacket will be completed by our assistants. 6. You'll star in a street photoshoot wearing your custom bomber jack
Maboneng Street Art Tour
Discover why Johanessburg’s artistic hub is recognized worldwide as a booming creative center on this 2-hour guided walking tour. You’ll see some of the best street art from around the world and even meet some of the artists themselves. Hit the streets of Maboneng Precinct and Jewel City to see why South Africa has long been recognized for its exciting modern art. Your guide will take you to meet the locals and explore Joburg subcultures, learn about the artists, their motivations, and the different techniques they use. You’ll walk through individual pieces and get an overview of these colorful pieces, experiencing first-hand just how street art is changing the perspective in these local communities. Street Photoshoot in Maboneng Precinct
We'll in The Maboneng Precinct. We'll walk up to the top of the street where we will view a little bit of the Maboneng history. There are various African restaurants, street art and the famous Maboneng sign that we'll walk past. We'll then walk through local African street stalls selling paintings, clothing and local merchandise. We'll conclude at a local rooftop bar where you can enjoy the views of our beautiful City of Johannesburg. Here you can decide whether to enjoy a refreshing local beer or cocktail and sit back and enjoy the view. Other things to note It is very normal to feel nervous for a photoshoot. The important thing to remember is to be yourself. Make sure you wear something comfortable and something you feel comfortable wearing.
Johannesburg Nightlife Experience
Our Jo'burg Nightlife Experience is An Experience that offers the guest the ability to really explore Johannesburg's night life with local party people. The experience is divided into 3 parts which Offers guests a complete night of fun & good music. We door to door pick up from 6 pm in the following area : Santon Rosebank Braamfontein Maboneng Melville Kensington Bedfordview Parkhurst NB: Drop-off is only for clients who are staying in our listed Airbnb and Hotels. We meet at Once In Joburg (local hotel) in Braamfontein at 7 pm for Dinner (which is not included in the price the dinner is optional) but it's a delicious African cuisine which you wouldn't want to miss if you not local. 8:30 pm we will serve pre-drinks on the house. - Wine - Beer - Juice 9:00 pm We will depart for our first destination. 9:20 pm Arrive at the fest Destination. 9:30 pm Enter. 10:30 Depart for Second Location. 10:45 Arrive at Second Location. 00:00 am Depart for the Third Location. 00:30 am Arrive at Third Destination. 2:00 am depart for the fourth location. 2:30 am Arrive at fourth destination. 3:30 am depart for Once in Joburg (Our Starting and ending Point) 4:00 am Arrive a Once in Joburg this will be the last spot. We will end on the first floor of the hotel to just recap on the night. We do offer, pickup and drop-off at an additional cost. Walking in Soweto
We'll stop first at FNB Stadium, also known as Soccer City, before we make our way to the Welcome Sign of Soweto to take pictures at Diepkloof Soweto. Then off to the Diepkloof Migrant Workers Hostel will be next, to see how the migrant workers used to stay. We'll then go to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital, the third largest hospital in the world. We'll see Orlando Towers, which stand as the largest landmark of Soweto, and we'll take a little stop at the Hector Pierterson Museum to learn more about the student uprising which took place on 1976. We'll walk the famous Vilakazi Street, home of both Desmond Tutu and Nelson Mandela—the world's only two Nobel Peace Prize Winners to have lived on the same street. I'll take you to Credo Mutwa Cultural Village—Kwa khaya Lendaba and Ophenheimer tower. Credo Mutwa the traditional healer, renowned philosopher, and famous for some of the worlds deadliest predictions like the USA twin tower bombing and HIV and AIDS. We'll also go to Oppenheimer Tower for a 360-degree view of Soweto and get to climb the 49 steps of the tower being a symbol of the 49 townships and houses which the Ophenheimer family played a role in building in Soweto. Other things to note Wear proper walking shoes. Please pay with South African currency for bookings. Wear cloths in condition with the weather,backpacks as they come essential when shopping at local markets.
Soweto Bicycle Experience
Starting in Vilakazi street, home to 2 Nobel Prize winners, Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. We will then cycling to the Hector Pietersen Museum to learn more about the role the youth of 1976 played during apartheid in South Africa. We will make a stop at a local Café, before cycling the vibrant streets of Soweto again making our way to other sites such as the Orlando Stadium in Orlando East. Here, we will get to understand how Soweto came to be, and what important events took place. We will then cycle to a local brewing company for a refreshing beer tasting and history of the brewery. For Lunch we will enjoy a Kota, it is a local favorite "street burger" I will also teach you the local lingo cause everywhere we go, locals will want to have a little interaction with you. Other things to note I do not cover entrance fee to Nelson Mandela house & Hector Pietersen, however, we do visit both venues. Looking forward to hosting you
Taste of Africa Food Experience
Guests meet with us at Windybrow Art Centre, where we gather to start the tour and get briefed about the day and what to expect and what the tour will entail to manage expectations and find out if there are any allergies or special dietary requirements. Our Taste of Africa Food Tour is a walking tour which covers a distance of 2km in about 6 stops. Areas we will cover: Hillbrow, Berea, Yeoville Stop 1: Our first stop is starters which is often two options depending on what season it is and what the street vendors feel like but the options are usually Chicken feet or braaied corn. Stop 2: South African cuisines, The inner city of Johannesburg made up of many African immigrates we will start of with Southern Africa Cuisine. Stop 3: Ethiopian coffee with a delicious meal will be served at our 3rd stop. Stop 4: African Beer, no experience is complete without an international beer. Stop 5: Shopping an African Market with food from all over the continent, the guest will be given a chance to shop. Stop 6 East African meal, here we will either have a Ghanian meal or Nigerian depending on the group. Stop 7: We will end our experience in Cameroon with delicious seafood :) *This tour is customizable depending on special dietary requirements. Learn to Skateboard and Explore Johannesburg on Skateboard
Our exciting and fun experience starts with a skateboarding lesson for first-timers/beginners which means that you don't need to know how to skateboard to join...we will teach you! Once done learning, we skate through the Maboneng Precinct (voted one of the world' coolest neighbourhoods, 2018) which is home to amazing street art and graffiti by both local and international artists such as Dbongz One (SA), Falko One (SA), Roa (BEL), DALeast (CHN) and Vhils (POR) to name a few! We then head off to see the city's origins in Marshalltown, where we see some of the city's oldest buildings and visit an underground bar built in an old bank vault from 1906 while learning about the non-racial "Kruger Liquour License" issued to select bars and what made it so special! We end off our experience in Newtown, which is home to the city's first ever multiracial cultural centre and has some of the city's best graffiti due to its association with street culture and the underground clubs found in the area! By the end of it all, you'll have a much better idea of the city of Johannesburg, it's history, what's going on now and why we love it so much...the best part of it all...you'll do it from the fun of a skateboard!
Enjoy a creative Sip and Paint experience
The session begins with a welcome drink for all the participants with a brief short introduction into the session explaining how to mix paint colors and an overview of all the paint brushes and how to use them . Each person is given a canvas , easel and an apron . Participants are then instructed to sketch what they would like to paint with pencil on the canvas . After this, the participants are given their brushes and paint and are then free to create art on their canvases while interacting with other participants. While the paint is drying n canvases , guests play an interactive short 15 minutes quiz based on South African Landmarks such . When the paintings are dry, the session concludes and participants can leave with their canvases.

- the Orlando towers a Soweto land mark,its a old power station which is now a place of fun and creates jobs -we see Orlando the first township that received development in Soweto -we visit the Mandela house in vilakazi street, Nelson Mandela's house during his time in Soweto.after the visit at the house we walk on the famous street in Soweto vilakazi street is the only street in the world to have housed 2 Nobel peace laureates because Bishop Tutu also lived there -we also get to have lunch in Soweto there's a variety of township food -we make a stop at Hector Peterson museum and we learn about the Soweto uprising - you get to walk around the busiest market place in Soweto where there's a lot of street vendors. -Taste Soweto gold the beer which was born in Soweto. 1.The tour begins at Hector Peterson museum in the heart of Soweto it is easy to find when you type on the GPS or using uber. 2.We stop Nelson Mandela's house 3.we see Winnie Mandela house 4.Taste Soweto gold/you also get to taste ( umqombothi) the African traditional beer. 5.We have lunch 6.you get to experience the different classes of people in Soweto. Other things to note We will be walking wear safe shoes we will also be hoping on Soweto`s public transport. We will meet at a historical place the Hector Pieterson Memorial site which is mostly about the 1976 student uprising which was a turning point in our history and walk down the most famous street in South Africa,Vilakazi street the only street with two Nobel peace prize recipients who are Dr Nelson Mandela and The Arch Bishop Tutu.The look out point where you can get a birds view of Soweto and how big it is and get to see the iconic Orlando towers which will be one of our stops .Jump into a mini bus like the locals do,then lunch time you get to eat what the locals call lunch,browse our beautiful ,colorful markets and meet some of our elders who played an instrumental role in our liberation. After all you have absorbed about Soweto online in news papers come join me and get the real picture
Photoshoot in an Exotic Forest
We'll meet at the Nature Reserve in Modderfontein. We'll travel down a long narrow road where we will stop to take a few pictures. We'll then follow the road which leads us to a rustic stone bridge that has a little river flowing under which is surrounded by lots of exotic flowers. We'll hop out and take a few more pictures here while we enjoy the tranquil sound of the river. We'll then drive into the reserve and down a stoney road which opens up into this beautiful tranquil lake that overlooks the reserve. This will be our last stop where we will completely embrace what Mother Nature has given us. Other things to note It is very normal to feel nervous for a photoshoot. The important thing to remember is to be yourself. Make sure you wear something comfortable and something you feel comfortable wearing. R35 per person to enter the reserve
Cook local dishes with a TV chef
Come hungry and ready to learn! During this interactive dining experience, I will show you how easy it is to make or Local dishes, Shakalaka ( a mixture of veggies like stir fries with an edge), Fatcook … from scratch using my own personal recipe! Then, we'll combine this with a delicious bowl pab a maize meal. We'll gather for dinner to enjoy the fruits of our labor.
