200 sqm quiet, light loft space (studio and living) in a central district (Mitte/Kreuzberg) of Berlin. This is my own working and living space and I only rent it out while being abroad for longer. For that reason I usually prefer to rent it out to one party during for the whole period, (so I don´t have to organize transitions in my absence). But of course it is also possible.

The studio is part of an old turn of the century building complex situated on the 4th floor in east- west direction and has an elevator. It  basically consists of one large space which is divided by walls of shelves, cupboards into living and working areas and a bathroom / toilet unit with bath tub and shower. As part of an old factory with ceiling heigt of 3,5 meters it is quite light due to five large windows and 6 Meter windowfront towards the west.
Note: This is a not an apartment made to look like a loft space. This is an old Berlin factory building that now hosts mostly architecture, design and artist studios. As me and my partner are artists this is an atelier / living space that i have built to suit my needs over the years (so please don´t expect anything posh or professionell) and that will undergo more changes in the future. The nice thing about it is....space and large windows, (one very large window). Also it is rather calm so it is nice to hang out if you don t feel like going out.

Sleeping situation consists of two mezzanine places with double beds each and one separate room that has a large sofa that can be turned into a double bed. Although the studio has three sleeping rooms each with double bed size the unit is only suitable for more than two people if you know each other well. The reason for that is that the two mezzanine spaces can be closed off by semi transparent sliding walls but they are all but sound and light proof, which makes it hard to ignore any activity going on in the kitchen or living area.

There are wifi loudspeakers (bongos) that you can connect to if you have spotify premium. There is no dish washer here !!!

As you might have noticed from the photos, there are quite a few plants at my place that need watering. It would be important that you do some watering should you stay for a longer period of time (more than three days).

מידע מועיל על השכונה

The neighbourhood is strange even though this is changing now. This used to be a run down industrial area with lots of factory ruins around. you can walk down to the river in 2 minutes. Although very central it was a no mans land, because in this area used to be the border between East and West. Now it is an example of gentrification versus squat culture. At this point you can still see both. Since I have moved in here residential and commercial buildings have been mushrooming all around my place. At the same time there is still Tipiland, an alternative tent settlement at the river, the Köpi, one of the oldest still existing squats a few meters down the road and a couple blocks south you are in the heart of northern Kreuzberg (SO 36) but there is also a park nearby with a pond where I skate when the ice is frozen (Engelbecken). As the place is situated on the edge between Friedrichshain, Mitte and Kreuzberg no neighbourhood (including prenzlauer berg or neukölln) is really far away. Also this is still the place that has many traditionell clubs in walking distance (kitkat, tresor, sage, berghain, panorama etc.) if you are into electronic music. I ll tell you more things once you get here..
