A beautiful Halé on the Big Island of Hawai’i. Kalapana Shores is located in the lower Puna District of Pahoa, thirty minutes south of Hilo. This lush side of the Island is abundant with Aloha and a short drive finds you at Pele’s lava flow, Volcanoes National Park, Kapoho Tide Pools, Black Sand beaches and many unique places to explore and enjoy! As close as you can get to Uncle Roberts Market, the beaches, the volcano and amazing lava hikes!

This Tropical Hawaiian Paradise Vacation home can be rented forThis Tropical H three nights or more, was built in 2007 and is very well maintained. The space is luxurious and warm with amazing jungle and ocean views.
This upper level home has 3 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. Depending on the number of beds needed, guests rent either the upper unit only with 3 beds or both upper and lower units for four to five beds. Both levels have full kitchen, living and dining rooms.

The home is fully furnished and with an expansive upper lanai with amazing ocean views and outdoor dining and lower lanai with lush plant life. . All bedrooms have luxurious Sealy Posturepedic beds, dressers, closets and fans. Both kitchens are well equipped with a full sized refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, coffee maker, electric tea kettle, rice cooker, crock-pot, blender, toaster, etc.

Other amenities include:
- Linens, towels, iron
- Electronic gate entry
- Snorkels, masks & fins
- Books and puzzles for kids
- Laundry room on both levels
- Gas BBQ grill on upper lanai
- Tourist bus stops 1/4 mile from the house

We are located in Kaimu on the Kalapana Coastline, just a few minutes from the beautiful, clothing optional Kehena Black Sand beach. Fifteen minutes down the Red Road takes you to Kapoho, a great location for snorkeling to see colorful reef and giant sea turtles year-round! We are also a 5-minute walk to Uncle Robert's Awa Club - a genuine, Hawaiian-family-owned outdoor bar and market! A truly must see.

The house is very comfortable and has a lovely view of the ocean. Kalapana Shores extends to its guests a lovely piece of land just across the road toward the ocean. This parcel is great for picnics, small group gatherings, weddings and has a quaint little gazebo overlooking the old lava flow. There is 24-hour assistance available should you have any questions or should anything unexpected arise.

Operated by John Corcoran a 30 year island visitor and 2 year island resident. JC is from Seal Beach, Ca with a background in sports, restaurant operations and entertainment. After 20 years visiting the Big Island, John has found a home away from home and is generally 30 minutes or less from this amazing ocean property.

JC is committed to providing clean reliable comfortable service and quality island home for single guests, a couple, couples, families or groups. Hands-on, or hands off, we help provide you with an amazing island adventure or a quiet relaxing ocean front jungle experience. This property is located a safe drive from the Kilauea Volcano zone!

We are conscientious home owners always improving and caring for our Hawaiian home. Located so close to the ocean always presents challenges so we have chosen the best house keepers & maintenance workers to keep our home in excellent shape for our guests to enjoy.

Our Kaimu neighborhood is a secret slice of paradise that we sometime refer to as the sunshine coast. There are only four other homes on our road and they are occupied by the owners, our very kind and good neighbors.

From the lanai, the views are breathtaking with a backdrop of the giant ocean waves splashing up against the old lava flow, amongst the lush green flora. A five minute walk across the old, amazing lava field takes you the ocean where you'll see giant sea turtles year-round and whales from December through May!

We are a 10-minute walk to the local and well-known Uncle Robert's Awa Bar where you'll experience live, authentic Hawaiian music, dances and open air markets. Be sure to put Uncle Robert's on your to-do list, it is a very welcoming environment.

Also be sure to get to the amazing Maku'u farmer's market on Sunday morning! Maku'u farmer's market is one of the largest, located off Highway 130 in Puna district, between Kea'au and Pahoa. Only a 20-minute drive from home, you will enjoy the wonderful sounds, sights and tastes of this unique local market. The friendly vendors and customers at this market reflect the true image of a laid back and extremely diverse Puna community.

Always with Aloha, JC-- WHY THIS PROPERTY When we decided to purchase a vacation rental home in Hawai'i, we were all about Puna! There's magic and serenity here. Pahoa holds a completely different vibe than Kona and even Hilo. You can actually feel the Aloha with each breath, taste the scent of natural landscapes and see the ever-changing beauty of the old lava flow just outside the door. You can hear the waves crashing on the shore from the lanai. We looked at many places on the Big Island, but Kal Shores was the one! Built in 2007, this home was constructed to withstand the elements. It has an open floor plan, wrap-around lanai, awesome landscape and only four other private homes on our little road. Unlike most other properties north of Kaimu on the Red Road, we are only partly solar-powered and enjoy clean, filtered water pumped in from Pahoa. No need for water catchments or loud generators. Another big plus is that we are a 5 minute walk to the ocean and a 5 minute walk to Uncle Robert’s Kava Bar. We can’t say enough about this authentic Hawaiian family-owned business, so you’ll just have to go see for your self but trust us, it’s truly a slice of the Puna lifestyle for both locals and visitors alike. If you can, go on Wednesday night! UNIQUE BENEFITS We absolutely love this home and it shows! When we purchased Kalapana Shores, the interior was painted all one color - pale blue. So the first project was to paint… everything. As you can see, the beautiful interior now compliments the whole environment. The immediate property surrounding the home was all just dirt. Next project: landscaping. We brought in red and black cinder, planted 20 Eureka Palm trees, planted dozens of other plants that were gifted to us from neighbor's yards, created a pineapple ring in the back yard and made many friends in the process. The climate here causes plants to grow extremely fast so the landscape looks beautifully different every month. The unforgettable ocean views feel as if we’re out far away from civilization, but we love the feeling of being 15 minutes from the throwback town of Pahoa. Even though we're part of the U.S., we’re still way out in the middle of the Pacific so we like having great neighbors nearby. The coded, bamboo gate is a perfect security feature and there are so many fun places to explore all around us. If you like to go for a jog, the Red Road is the best!! Sometimes we take our morning coffee out to the lava and watch the sea turtles play in the blue, blue ocean waves. It’s a good idea to keep an eye on the tides; High tide is best for snorkeling. The landscape of the south part of the island is drastically changing now due to the activity of Kilauea and you can see the island forming in front of you! Always with Aloha, JC
