Enjoy a break at Ardilaun House in this spacious double room.

Make yourself a warm drink in your room; better still, stroll in the large, riverside garden or fire up the barbecue ... and enjoy the tranquility of the Clare countryside.

With Shannon Airport only a short distance away, Ennis is the ideal place from which to explore Ireland’s mid-west—the Wild Atlantic Way, the Cliffs of Moher, Doolin, the Burren, Bunratty Castle, Aillwee Cave, Lisdoonvarna and much more

This double room boasts a king-size bed and, being at garden-floor level, there a patio door straight out into the rear garden and the Fergus beyond ... assured peace and quiet for the traveller.

The room is furnished with casual seating, a wardrobe and a mirrored dressing table, and a small table where you’ll find everything you need to make a hot drink. Free wifi and a TV are also included as is, of course, an en-suite bathroom. The breakfast room is just down the corridor.

Ardilaun’s extensive gardens with its impressive artworks are just the other side of the patio doors. Fringed by the Fergus, the garden has riverside decked area with seating, tables and barbecue ... the perfect spot to relax, cook or catch dinner straight from the Fergus.

There is plenty of free parking but you won’t need a car for the 600m walk to Ballyallia Lake, an well- known and important ecological site for waterbirds that has been recognised as a wetland of international importance. There is easy access to lakeside walks around Ballyallia and, in July and August, kayaks and stand-up boards are available for hire. (For more details of other attractions, amenities and services in and around Ennis, see ‘Other things to note’ below.)

Ardilaun has invested in an ozone generator to facilitate the daily sterilisation of all rooms; in addition we are committed to following all current safety procedures.

אזורים נגישים לאורחים
The proximity of Shannon Airport ensures that access to Ennis and Ardilaun couldn’t be easier ... no more than 22 minutes by car. Ardilaun is therefore the perfect stopover before returning home ... or safe haven when you first arrive in Ireland.

From junction 14 of the motorway (the M18)—from Galway in the north or Shannon Airport to the south—Ardilaun is a mere 3km (2 miles) south on the main road (the R458) towards Ennis. If you’re approaching the area from another direction, Ardilaun is on the R458 between Ennis and Barefield.

Hourly bus services from Shannon Airport stop at Ennis Bus & Railway Station. Bus Eireann route 51 takes 30 minutes and route 343 takes another quarter of an hour; there are also regular (though less frequent) rail services between Limerick (40 minutes) and Galway (1 hour 5 minutes) that stop here.

As Ardilaun is not served by any onward public transport from the Station —and it’s a 45-minute walk— guests can be picked up at the Bus & Railway Station by arrangement.

Pick-up at Shannon Airport can also be arranged using a local and reliable taxi service (number available on request). If the driver has flight details, he will check its progress online and be at the airport when you arrive.

דברים נוספים שכדאי לדעת
Ennis, the county town of Clare, is an historical market town that retains its traditional and cultural heritage while embracing all the amenities and services of the modern world. A wide range of restaurants offers everything from Thai to Indian, Italian to Asian Fusion; equally inviting are Ennis’ multifarious bars, many of which offer live Irish music and top-notch pub food.

May and November are ‘festival’ months when these bars and pubs become important venues for the town’s traditional Irish music festivals. For three days every March Ennis hosts its prestigious Book Club Festival which attracts distinguished authors from Ireland and beyond. Many of the more prominent musical and literary events in these festivals are showcased in the Glór, Ennis’ thriving theatre and arts centre.

Within a short 400-metre walk of Ardilaun is the Auburn Lodge which has both a bar and restaurant. On the other hand in ten minutes you can be parked up in the town centre with a wide range of restaurants and bars no more than a short stroll away. If you prefer to eat at Ardilaun—and don’t want to fish for your supper, many of Ennis’ restaurants will deliver and, of course, there are numerous Takeaways ... all no more than a call away. The nearby Lidl has the usual selection of snacks and beverages.

Ennis is well served by public transport and, as well as bus services to and from Cork, Limerick and Galway —and, of course, Shannon Airport—there are local buses to the Wild Atlantic Way at Kilrush, Kilkee, Lahinch and the Cliffs of Moher and, inland, to Bunratty Castle. Check online for timetables at Buseireann and Dublincoach.websites (Bunratty / Limerick / Dublin).
County Clare’s wealth of attractions and locations is well-known but additional information on all of these, as well as detailed maps of the area, is available at the Tourist Information Centre which also houses an excellent Museum. Day-trips can be arranged here such as a two-hour trip from Carrigaholt out into the mouth of the Shannon in search of the bottlenose dolphin, or an inspiring, day-long excursion to the Cliffs of Moher and Doolin which includes a boat trip to one of the Aran Islands.
In addition to the many sightseeing opportunities, Clare has much to offer to both the energetic traveller and those who favour more leisurely activities ... everything from golf to fishing and horse-riding to surfing and countless opportunities for casual lakeside and seaside walking or taking to the hills.
And, if you want to get to know more about Ennis itself, there are do-it-yourself ‘mapped’ tours for visitors. Daily walking tours (group and private tours can also be arranged) are also popular when, as well as finding out how and why Muhammed Ali and Éamon de Valera have strong connections to the town, you’ll hear tales of famine, murder, hangings and rebellions ...
