Situated in the heart of rural Co. Kilkenny, the Cottage is a 200 year old Georgian building and the perfect gateway to the Sunny South East. We are located in the Suir Valley and the South Leinster Way, nestled in the foothills of Slievenamon and the Comeragh mountains. The Cottage is a cosy base with beautiful mountains and beaches just a short drive away. Easy access to Kilkenny, Waterford, Dublin and Cork this a great location to discover Ireland's Ancient East.

The Cottage is a traditional Irish stone cottage with all of the quirky character you would associate with this type of space, including a traditional half door and wood burning stove. It has it's own entrance and parking facilities, as well as an outdoor seating area. The space is host to a full kitchen/living space with an oven, stove, fridge and microwave as well as tea and coffee making facilities. The Cottage also has a modern tv with Netflix access and quality Wi-Fi. There is a washing machine and dryer available in the outbuilding next door that is available for guest use. The bedroom is separate to the living area and contains a double bed, locker and wardrobe with the fully equipped ensuite bathroom leading off the main bedroom. The bathroom has a sink, shower and toilet as well as a vanity unit and will be stocked with towels, soap, shampoo, body-wash and toilet paper. The spacious living area contains a fold out sofa bed that can accommodate two people.

Piltown, County Kilkenny, אירלנד

We have a huge variety of amenities on our doorstep, including walking, cycling, horse riding, hiking, hill walking, golfing, fishing and kayaking so please let us know if you want any recommendations! We are less than 15 minutes drive from the Waterford Greenway and Suir Valley Railway and less than half an hour from Mahon Falls and the Comeragh Mountain range. The Copper Coast and Coast Road are a short drive from here where you can stop off at a variety of secluded beaches along the way. Day trips to Kilkenny and Waterford are highly recommended as they are both less than 30 minutes drive away with some fabulous activities, bars and restaurants to experience.

Piltown
The local village is a quaint Irish village with amenities including a country pub, takeaway, shop and a pharmacy all just a short walk, drive or cycle. There are some beautiful walks and trails nearby, including woodland and rural farmland. Cycling, hiking, walking, golfing and horse riding facilities are close by- please enquire for more information. Piltown hosts Ireland’s Oldest Agricultural show- The Iverk Show, which is held on the last Saturday in August. It is a wonderful day out with equestrian, agriculture, arts, crafts and a funfair. We are also less than 15 minute drive from the All Together Now music and Arts festival on the nearby Curraghmore Estate. During festival weekend we can provide a shuttle service so please let us know if you wish to avail of this. There are also Catholic and Protestant churches in the village which both host regular services.

Carrick-on-Súir
A flourishing market town overlooking the River Suir is just a ten-minute drive away. With fabulous attractions including Ormonde Castle, Ireland’s only Tudor mansion and the newly established Blueway with walking, cycling and kayaking available there’s plenty to do. For a small town there’s an established arts scene with the Brewery Lane and Strand Theatres hosting multiple events throughout the year, including The Clancy Brothers Music Festival. The Tudor Artisan hub provides a thriving space for local artists to showcase their work. Slievenamon and the Comeragh mountains are a quick drive so there’s an abundance of hiking and hill walking activities nearby. There’s also plenty of great local pubs in and around Carrick if you’ve worked up a thirst!

Kilmacthomas
Waterford’s newest attraction, the Greenway, is 15 minutes from here. Why not spend the day cycling, stopping off for lunch at the Coach House café and exploring Kilmacthomas. Visit the Workhouse studios, home to a group of artists and craftspeople who create and showcase handmade, contemporary design with an array of products covering textiles, jewellery, glass and ceramics. They also offer tours and workshops. For fishing enthusiasts, the nearby Ballyshunock Reservoir offers mixed course and trout fishing, with a healthy population of brown and rainbow trout as well as rudd, bream and tench.

Kilkenny
A medieval city in an enchanting location on the river, in the heart of Ireland’s Ancient East Kilkenny is home to a thriving arts scene and extraordinary craftspeople. If history is your thing there’s a whole host of options including Kilkenny Castle, Rothe House & Gardens, Butler Gallery, the Medieval Mile Museum and St Canice’s Cathedral & Round Tower. Excellence is abundant in Kilkenny, with a number of award-winning bars and restaurants across the city it’s a gourmet food lover’s dream. Music is the beating heart of this ancient city, with some wonderful venues and festivals taking place throughout the year, why not catch a gig in the Set Theatre or in one of the many venues across the city. Plan ahead for popular festivals such as Kilkenny Arts, Rhythm and Roots, Cat Laughs, Savour Kilkenny and Kilkenny Animated.
For something a bit different why not try the National Reptile Zoo or Footgolf Kilkenny.

Waterford
Ireland’s Viking city is just 20 minutes down the road and offers a whole host of exciting activities. For the history buff, visit the iconic Reginald’s Tower or learn more about the city’s ancient past at the Bishops Palace and the Medieval museum . There’s also the world-renowned House of Waterford Crystal and shop which showcases all stages in the creation of fine crystal; including crystal blowing and mould making, crystal cutting, sculpting and engraving.
If you’re a foodie you’ll find a whole host of high-end bistros, gourmet gastropubs and bars. In the summer check out the various arts and food festivals that take place throughout the city- highlights include the international street theatre festival Spraoi which takes place in August and the Waterford Harvest festival which is held in September. For any budding artists, the Waterford Walls street art festival delivers large scale public art exhibitions, inviting street artists to collaborate and transform the city’s urban spaces. Attend the festival itself or take the walking tour to fully immerse yourself in the street art experience.
Waterford city is a stone’s throw away from miles of beautiful coastline where you can visit the stunning seaside village of Dunmore East, the bustling promenade and arcade at Tramore’s seaside resort or drive along the Coast Road, stopping off at a number of secluded beaches along the way.

Other areas close by include Tramore, Dunmore East and Dungarvan.

Tramore is a bustling seaside town where you can experience a traditional Irish summer holiday. Grab an ice cream and go for a walk on the promenade, try some thrills at Tramore Amusement Park or learn to surf on Tramore beach. Visit the Metalman for iconic views of the Waterford coastline and for any romantic souls, if you hop three times around the Metalman you’ll be married within the year!

Dunmore East is a stunning seaside village with an excellent activities centre, beautiful walks and fabulous restaurants.

Dungarvan, a gorgeous coastal town at the end of the Greenway is home to Clonea Strand, Dungarvan Castle and Paul Flynn’s Tannery Restaurant and Cookery School.
