Long Crendon is a village and civil parish in west Buckinghamshire, England, about 3 miles west of Haddenham and 2 miles north-west of Thame in neighbouring Oxfordshire. The village has been called Long Crendon only since the English Civil War.
There are many historical buildings in Long Crendon, including the Old Court House, which is national trust, Long Crendon Manor, and an eclectic mix of beautiful heritage residential property, most with a story to tell.
Long Crendon is also one of the most popular ‘Midsummer Murder’ village locations in this area, and has featured in many episodes of this popular TV series. Midsummer Murder tours can be booked on line.
There are many places to walk in and around Long Crendon, and popular county walks linking the surrounding villages of Shabbington, Chearsley, Chilton and Cuddington.
Waddesdon Manor belonging to the Rothschild estate is a 20 minute car drive North East of Long Crendon
with amazing walks around the grounds, cafes, museum, aviary, wine and gift shop.
The village shop is open from 6am until 8pm selling many provisions and more. This is situated on the Bicester road and the edge of the square.
Long Crendon Butchers offers a wide variety of good quality meat, fresh bread, fresh fruit, veg and a variety of convenience foods. The butcher closes on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons at 1.00pm.
Barbers, hairdressers, butchers, fish and chip shop can all be found on the square.
The Flower Pot coffee shop and Indian restaurant can be found on the Bicester Road opposite.
Long Crendon has 2 village pubs, both opposite ends of the high street.
The Churchill Arms is a homely and welcoming village pub, serving some of the best Thai food in the area.
The £10.00 lunch including drink, is amazing value, served most days. Always check for availability.
The 8 Bells is a more traditional English pub, serving good wholesome traditional pub food.
Crendon Manor Stables Farm Shop can be found along the Thame Road, just a 2 minute walk from the village square, selling a number of artisan luxuries, fresh baked bread and cakes to be enjoyed at the coffee shop or take away.
Just 2 miles outside of Long Crendon lies the little Hamlet of Easington, Here you will find the Mole and Chicken. Just a little more than a village pub. If you want something that little bit special, this is just the place. If you are fortunate enough to visit in the summer months, the sunsets from the terrace are amazing!
The food is very good, with a cosy, romantic ambiance.
The popular Market Town of Thame is situated just 2miles south of Long Crendon. A bustling high street with many shops, cafes pubs and restaurants. There is a street market held every Tuesday on the Upper High Street car park. Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Co-Op all offer parking facilities. Waitrose offers free parking for 90 minutes.
A regular bus service operates from Thame to Oxford city and Aylesbury Town centre.
Haddenham and Thame Parkway offer services with regular trains to London, Bicester Village , and Birmingham.
