Casa Sterna apartment is a modern and character filled building on four levels of a restored medieval dwelling, situated in the heart of a stone-walled town of Portole / Oprtalj, Istria. This fully independent flat comprises two separate sleeping areas with two single and one double bed, spread on two floors visually separated by a woven willow screen. This place is suitable for a group of 4. The compact kitchen has an induction stove, small fridge, and sink for essential cooking needs.

The main feature of this property is a truly remarkable 17th century, naturally air-conditioned water cistern converted to a lounge room under the ground for your use. This apartment is in effect a three story house in a medieval narrow street setting equipped with a small kitchen, natural flagstone and aged oak floors with quirky architectural features throughout; designer master bathroom with heated sandstone flooring and a sunken bath, exceptionally high ceilings, separate sleeping loft with two additional single beds and another shower room and toilet. The living level has a small restroom on the ground floor.

This little hill over the magnificent Mirna Valley is the best part of Europe in my opinion. In a short time landscape, culture, food and language change from Italian to Croatian.. I love the beaches and the mountains at either ends of the valley as well as pretty little medieval hilltop towns covered in sleepy dust and welcoming locals such as Motovun and Groznjan.
