Restaurants, bars, shops, waterfront and more. A quick 12-minute drive to downtown Everett and you're in a quaint town next to a metropolis. The city hosts several annual events and festivals for local arts and celebrations, usually during the summer months. The city's waterfront hosts an annual parade and fireworks display on Independence Day. Everett has hosted a downtown sausage and street festival annually in September since 1977. Several annual festivals were established in the 1990s, including a film festival in February, the Cruzin' to Colby classic car show in May, the Sorticulture garden festival in June, and the Fresh Paint art show in August. The Everett farmers market began in 1994 and operates on Sundays from May to October with 200 vendors and about 5,000 weekly visitors. It was originally located at the Port of Everett but moved in 2019 to Wetmore Avenue in downtown because of parking and accessibility issues at the waterfront site. The farmers market also operates popup bazaars during the off-season and a Wednesday market at Everett Station during the summer. The waterfront remains home to a summer concert series that has been staged annually since 1991. A craft beer festival was established in 2012 by the Washington Beer Commission and was later renamed to the Upper Left Beerfest in 2017. The Fisherman's Village Music Festival, established in 2014, takes place annually over a three-day weekend in May at four stages in Downtown Everett. The music festival includes performances from 50 local and national artists as well as art exhibitions. The Future of Flight Aviation Center at Paine Field, owned by the county government and operated by Boeing, has several aviation exhibits and includes a tour of the Boeing assembly plant. It is the most popular tourist attraction in Snohomish County, with 495,000 total visitors in 2017. The Flying Heritage & Combat Armor Museum opened in 2008 at a renovated Paine Field hangar and houses a collection of restored 20th century military planes and vehicles. The Imagine Children's Museum opened in 2004 at a renovated bank building in Downtown Everett after relocating from Marysville. It has interactive exhibits designed to teach children about local history, science, and the arts.

Do you dream of climbing the snow-capped Cascades? Do you gape in wonder at sweeping views from historic lookouts? If you answered "yes," you have found your park in Mount Pilchuck. The 2.7-mile trail begins on U.S. Forest Service land and enters this day-use state park after a quarter-mile. The terrain changes quickly from forest to fields of shale that evoke the face of the moon. Orange poles point the way through the jumble of gray and white boulders and, when the views open up, they reveal Mount Shuksan, Mount Baker and the North Cascades. The trail reaches a chunky white rock wall before winding around the back of the peak for a steep approach to the lookout. The true summit requires a short scramble to the lookout's wraparound balcony. Pause and take in the majestic landscape from the lookout – the valley of timber and rock below, Mount Rainier to the south, the Olympic range to the west and the North Cascades all around. Panels on each wall inside the structure tell you which peaks you are seeing.
