There are some museums that are must-sees just because. The Smithsonian for example. Now, our local museum can't compare to that. However, we do have some pretty amazing exhibits stop by. But...my real love for our Museum of Art (besides the DELISH cafe!! Especially their brunch - make reservations!!) is the always permanent and yet completely gorgeous Chihuly exhibit. In 2012, the museum was able to purchase one of the largest collections of his work to date. Which includes the largest glass-blown tower Chihuly has ever created. The comprehensive collection contains major works of the artist's various series including Waterford Crystal Chandelier (one of only two made), Oklahoma Persian Ceiling, Float Boat, Ikebana Boat, Persians, Macchia, Baskets, Putti, Cylinders, Ikebana, Seaforms, and Drawings. In total, there are nearly 80 named works, including the Tower and three gifts Dale Chihuly later made to the Museum. It probably helped that his wife has roots here in OKC. I know a lot of people who are sure grateful she did! The tower makes an AMAZING backdrop for a streetside/curbside photoshoot.

This is a world class museum with a restaurant and movie theater that are on par with the art. The movie theater shows more art / independent films (we have enough theaters that show mainstream films). Thursday's are especially fun because you can do drinks on the rooftop, which offers stunning views of downtown OKC.

If you need something fun to do while you are in town, check out the Oklahoma City Museum of Art! Their collection includes beautiful blown glass pieces by Dale Chihuly, collections of American and European art, and rotations of featured artists. Art museum, pretty nice if you're into art. During the summer they have live music and drinks on the rooftop.
