Drive through the lava fields to this magical small hamlet and enjoy the Salt Planes of Salinas de Janubio. They look fabulous in black and white photos! Stop off after visiting the famous 'Lago Verde' and have a delicious fresh fish lunch at Bygovate restaurant, sit on its lower natural terrace mere feet from the lava and waves of the sea ....... breath taking and energising. My favourite place!

What is it? Where powerful Atlantic breakers pound the western volcanic coast, several paper tablecloth cafés, such as Restaurant Costa Azul, offer ringside seats. Go and feel sea spray on your cheeks while devouring fresh fish with Canarian potatoes. Why go? It’s invigorating to watch the drama of waves smashing onto the black rocks a few feet away, seabirds soaring above. Prepare to scream when a big wave hits. The jagged rocks at Los Hervideros nearby provide good photo ops.

The famous Green Lagoon of El Golfo. Take a walk along the beach and watch the waves, swimming is not recommended here but the fish restaurants and the stunning coastline are worth seeing
