Situated just to the west of Lake Eola, a lovely park in the downtown area of Orlando, the centre has 3 floors that tell the story of the area from its humble beginnings to the present day although it does not pay too much attention to the one thing that is synonymous with the area, Disney, preferring to concentrate on the way ordinary folk got along before Disney World was thought of. www.thehistorycenter.org/exhibits/permanent

You can tell from the decor in our guest house that we are interested in Florida history, and Central Florida history in particular. Many of the artifacts and art pieces in our guest house we purchased at an auction at the Orange County Regional History Center. This museum occupies the old Orange County Courthouse, which is interesting in itself. If you are a history buff or maybe just like the kitschy side of Florida, you have to check this place out. It is located in the center of downtown, next to the Orange County Library. There is a city parking garage on East Central Blvd., across from the library.
