Roughly a 3 hr hike with stunning views of Rattlesnake Lake and the Cascades. Keep little ones close as the drop-offs are exposed. Gentle uphill hike with wide paths, well-maintained.
Great hiking trail for beginner to intermediate hikers! Beautiful view at the end.

“4. Mount Si Mount Si Trail North Bend, WA 98045 Visit Website Region: North Bend Distance: 8 miles Elevation: 3,150 feet Parking Pass: Discover Pass Mount Si is arguably the classic Seattle-area hike. It is the rocky peak looming to your left as you drive Interstate 90 past North Bend. It’s in the opening credits of the original Twin Peaks. Everyone at your office has probably hiked it at least once. All that notoriety also means it’s one of the most popular hikes in the area. Don’t let the popularity fool you; it’s a hard hike. It gains 3,150 in just four steep, switch-backing miles, but the views make it worthwhile. On a clear day, Mount Rainier will stand large to the south surrounded by dozens of other Cascade peaks. See the WTA guide for detailed trail directions. ”

“A great local day hike, good for kids at just 2 miles. From Washington Trails Association: There is a viewpoint before reaching the falls but hikers can get closer by following a narrow trail gouged into the side of the rock. Use caution and keep children close as the rocks are often wet and potentially slippery. The falls, when running at peak, give off a pretty heavy spray so rain gear is a good idea if you want to get close. During lower flow periods there is more room to roam by the base of the falls. In the wintertime this also makes an excellent destination for an easy snowshoe, though hikers are well-advised to not venture to the splash pool in icy conditions. The falls run year round and the incredible icicle formations along the rock face around the falls are spectacular--well worth the trip.”

“One of the best local ski hills only about 2 hours away. Your hosts have season passes here and will be going up on many Weds or Thursdays during the season- do ask if you are staying on those days and want to ride up and enjoy a day on the slopes. Check online for up to date ski bus info from Seattle- it is not posted yet but usually there are buses you can book a seat on. ”
