This homestay is a part of Hum Sab Ek hain (We are One) initiative of SEWA. SEWA organizes poor, self-employed women workers in the informal economy towards two major goals of full employment and self-reliance.

A cozy homestay surrounded by fields & farms, situated in Vadu Village in North Gujarat. Far from the hustle & bustle of the city, you can experience the peaceful and tranquil atmosphere of rural Gujarat. Our home is about 30 km drive from the district headquarter of Mehsana.

Located in one of the many charming Indian villages. The house has 2 rooms spacious & well ventilated. The rooms are on the first floor with access to a balcony. It has beds, table and a chair for you to use. There is a bathroom which is outside the room.

There’s a TV in the house for your entertainment. The kitchen in the house has a small refrigerator where you can store your food. Basic utensils & supplies are there to help you make tea/coffee.

Indulge yourself in the Gujarati cuisine served to you for breakfast.

You can go for a nature walk around the village, visit the organic eco tourism centre which is a tree-growers' cooperative. You can also visit the community radio studio set-up by SEWA women where they are engaged in editing and recording of community radio programmes. Besides taking nature walks in the tranquil environment, you can also accompany SEWA women to work. The eco tourism centre set-up by SEWA members on a government wasteland is also close by. You can have a look at the farm, visit the nearby temple, buy local organic vegetables, have a local traditional meal and talk to the women about the struggle and how they set-up this one of its kind tree growers cooperative. There are many heritage attractions nearby the village that you can visit. The famous sun temple at Modhera is situated at a 45 km drive from our village Besides the central location, you can visit famous stepwell in Adalaj which is about 60km from the village. It is an example of Indian architecture with Islamic iconography architecture work. You can also visit the famous temple of Akshardham. Here one can see the intricately carved monument made of pink sandstone.

I have been a proud member of SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association) for the past 17 years. SEWA organizes self-employed women workers across 13 Indian States in the informal economy towards two major goals of full employment and self-reliance in India.

I studied up to seventh grade and used to work as an agricultural worker before getting married. My life could have been just another story of a rural woman before I joined SEWA and started taking part in community awareness campaigns and activities. I gained a lot of self belief and confidence through activities of SEWA.

Students from various parts of the country like Assam and Uttaranchal have stayed with me and family when they interned with SEWA. They loved chatting with my mother-in-law and she loved that experience. Now, we're looking forward to hosting more guests from across the world.

Come stay with us and we can exchange interesting stories and can also showcase the work we’re doing; the ecotourism center, the radio station and involve you in our daily activities.
