The Top of Twin Peaks is the highest spot in SF, and offers 270 degree panoramic views of the city and Bay Area. Equally beautiful day and night, it's also a very romantic spot (though you won't be alone no matter when you go).

Glen Canyon is a 10 minute walk from the cottage, but is a wooded canyon paradise in the middle of the San Francisco. Great hour long hike.

It is one of the largest public parks in the country, and has several attractions within the park, my favorites including the De Young Museum, Academy of Sciences Musuem, and Conservatory of Flowers. Or for a romantic experience, go to Stow Lake and rent a paddle boat.
