You can visit the taproom at the brewery (3 Dalman Street, Forster), which is currently open Thurs, Fri and Sat 11.00am – 6pm. Visitors can enjoy a range of regularly, rotating beers on a tasting paddle (89mL or 200mL glasses) and schooners. Cider, gluten free beer and a range of soft drinks are also available in the taproom. Cans and cartons can also be purchased from the taproom and we also sell (and fill) ‘growlers’ and ‘squealers’ of beer for takeaway. Light food (chips, nuts and cheeseboards are available at all times) and we also have food trucks most days. Food can also be ordered in from local takeaway restaurants. And YES children are welcome.

About 45 mins drive from our Cottage the rainforests of Barrington Tops National Park are of international significance; forming part of the Gondwana Rainforests of Australia World Heritage Area. Carved out of ancient volcanic flows, the park rises from near sea level to 1,586m and protects one of the largest temperate rainforests in mainland Australia, along with a host of diverse habitats and wide range of birds and animals. The park is a bushwalker’s paradise, with an excellent walking track network that includes short and easy walks to more difficult overnight hikes, with plenty of sites to set up a bush camp for the evening. For those visiting for the day, there are lots of picnic and barbecue areas to enjoy, cycling trails to be explored and views from the park’s lookouts that need to be seen to be believed. Fishing is a popular activity in the park between October and May; you might catch a rainbow or brown trout.

In 1876, a man by the name of Saxby first discovered gold in the district. He found it around Back Creek, now Copeland Creek, near to what is now the village of Copeland. After his discovery, miners from everywhere descended on the area and the population grew to 1,100. Three pubs and four stores soon catered for the needs of 800 miners. Find out more about the history of mining in the area and see where these gold-hungry souls toiled in Mountain Maid gold mine – one of New South Wales’ longest running operational gold mines. Walk around some historic buildings and get up close and personal with old machinery such as a battery stamper, whirly-gig gold separator, air compressor and gold carts.
