Wonderful places to visit while in gorgeous Sonoma County
The Redwood Empire Ice Arena is truly the most beautiful Ice Arena in the world. The Arena opened on April 28th, 1969 with a gala event starring the 1968 Olympic Gold Medallist Peggy Fleming and the Vince Guaraldi trio. Just as with this opening ceremony so it has been for its entire history, the Redwood Empire Ice Arena has stood for quality. The grand opening was the culmination of almost a year of construction. Nestled among towering Redwoods, with faithful reproductions of Swiss chalet facades and panoramic scenes from the Swiss Alps Snoopy's Home Ice feels like an Alpine village in a Redwood Forest. It is truly a magical place. https://www.snoopyshomeice.com/home

It's impossible to visit Sonoma County's Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve and not be transformed, however briefly, by the magnificence of nature. Beneath this redwood forest's magnificent, soaring canopy you'll feel silenced by the trees' majesty and humbled by their endurance. And there's simply something about being surrounded by trees that have lived more than a thousand years that slows you down and causes you to reflect. When you leave a redwood forest, the world is never quite the same, at least for a little while. https://www.sonomacounty.com/articles/armstrong-redwoods

Jenner Beach in Jenner, California Share Tweet Pin 3 3SHARES Jenner Beach is the main beach at the north side of the Russian River mouth in the town of Jenner. This driftwood strewn beach can be accessed via steep paths from various pullout parking spots on Highway 1. The safest is behind four steel yellow bollards (posts) that mark the trailhead next to the highway. It’s also possible to get down to the north end of Jenner Beach from the trail at Fish Head Beach. If the river mouth is closed (when the river is not flowing through the beach), then you can get here by walking north from Goat Rock Beach but stay back 50 yards from harbor seals and sea lions if present. https://www.californiabeaches.com/beach/jenner-beach/

The park, 60 miles north of San Francisco on the eastern edge of Santa Rosa offers miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and trail riding. For wildflower lovers, Trione-Annadel State Park offers a great variety of flowers from early Spring until early Summer, especially on a hike around Lake Ilsanjo. It could be easy to discount Catelli’s as an old school red sauce joint, but that would be a mistake. First opened in 1936, Catelli’s is now under the firm guidance of third generation chef Domenica Catelli, who is cooking the heck out of the dishes first brought to the menu by her grandparents. It’s the kind of spot that satisfies those seeking modern California-Italian hybrids as much as those dreaming of a nice piece of chicken parm. Fresh housemade pastas and scratch sauces are hallmarks. A full bar, an outstanding selection of northern Sonoma County wines, and a lovely back patio round out the experience.

Tucked away in the South A Street artists’ district, Spinster Sisters features ever-changing original art on the walls and inexpensive County Line wines on tap, making it the perfect casual spot for Tuesday nights and Sunday mornings alike. Chef Liza Hinmann's delicious wilted kale salad outshines the typical versions, and her breakfasts often features surprise specials like homemade doughnut holes with fresh pear.

Probably Sonoma County’s best Peruvian restaurant, this is your spot for giant portions of pollo a la brasa, lomo saltado, and a wide assortment of ceviches — all the classics. Save room for the lucuma ice cream for dessert.

This casual, counter-service spot serving high-quality Mexican food, from huevos rancheros to lamb tacos is a must-visit restaurant in Sonoma. The handmade tortillas are so good and fragrant, you can find them at various Bay Area farmers markets (under the Primavera brand name). They taste that much better here at the mother ship.
