On the other side of Torshovdalen, a fifteen-minute walk from my apartment, you’ll find Oslo’s best pizza place. Åpent Bakeri is a café and bakery by day, and serves great pizzas after 4 pm, in a quiet residential area. Try the reindeer and pomegranate pizza! (Open every day but the pizza restaurant is closed on Monday and Tuesdays).

Reservations recommended for weekend brunch and dinner. Tøyen’s best outdoor seating, next to the fountain at Sørli plass. Service may be a bit slow, sometimes, but the waiters are always smiling.

A small menu of 100 NOK burgers is really all you need, and everything is home-made and carefully grilled to perfection.

A small menu of 100 NOK burgers is really all you need, and everything is home-made and carefully grilled to perfection.
This top Italian joint brings you rustic food from all over Italy and perhaps the best Italian places in the city. They also have the biggest Italian wine cellar in Norway. Try the oxtail ravioli! Also, try Bettola, the cocktail bar next door.

Bar Boca is one of the smallest bars in town, but their cocktail list is nothing short of impressive. The beautiful fifties decor gives the place a great atmosphere and the bar attracts an interesting mix of people.
