I've been to a lot of Aquarium's in the past, and this one is by far my favorite. The experience begins with a train ride hosted by John Goodman, after that, you're free to move along the Aquarium at your own pace. There are lots of exhibits along the way, as well as many hands-on activities for all ages. You'll find plenty of fish, sea life, and other water creatures to keep you interested. Piranha's, sea horses, sharks, otters, stingray's, jellyfish, and dragonfish are just a few of the creatures you'll encounter here.

Enjoying an adventure every time you visit. Knowing a discovery will be made around each corner. You're at the Saint Louis Zoo, a get-away destination that brings together more than 16,000* wild animals and 3,000,000 visitors each year. Voted America's top free attraction, the Zoo is located on 90 acres in beautiful Forest Park, and home to more than 600 species of animals, many of them rare and endangered. It is one of the few free zoos in the nation. Since its inception in 1910, the Zoo has been renowned for its beautiful naturalistic exhibits and for its diverse collection of animals from the major continents and biomes of the world. It is widely recognized for its animal management, wildlife conservation and research.

Hard to come to STL and not do a Anheuser-Busch brewery tour! I am not the biggest beer guy, but will gladly take tours at brewhouses as it's always fun to learn about the beermaking process as well as sample their goods. I honestly was not expecting the Hollywood tour that they provided! Upon walking into the lobby you are greeted with a Disneyland trove of treasures, so it's good to spend some time wandering around first before checking in for one of the tours. Speaking of the tours, they have several different levels, think of a basic, intermediate, and advanced with prices obviously getting higher with each step up. I went with the middle of the road tour, which was under $20 and included several beers and an hour long tours. I will tell you that if it is a hot summer day, you are in luck as many of the stops are in door with air conditioning besides the Clydesdales which everyone of course comes for. You will make several pit stops at some of their fermentation halls and history rooms, get ready to drop your jaw with their fermentation tanks, they are absolutely massive! Then of course come the Clydesdales, which everyone gets giddy over. You can get up and personal for photos or find some iconic shots with the wagons and sometimes they even bring them out for those iconic shots. As mentioned earlier, you will have several pit stops to try various Budweiser beers and the rare (At least for me) Bud Select, which is delicious. Last stop where they drop you off is the beer garden for a final beer or in many cases you end up doing a flight tasting of their huge lineup. The outdoor beer garden is quite large and even offers up food, so it's a great idea for lunches. Fabulous tour and well worth every penny! Would highly suggest to anyone looking for an iconic spot to visit in STL.

The Muny is synonymous with summer in St. Louis, and so much a part of the cultural fabric of our city. We are so lucky to have an industry icon like the Muny, helping to spread a love of the Arts. The theatre seats 11,000 people with about 1,500 free seats in the last nine rows that are available on a first come, first served basis. I LOVE going to shows and sitting in the free seats. It is a great date night experience because you are able to pack a dinner, head to the Muny before gates open, quickly claim a seat in the free area and then have a picnic before the show! We don't rely on the free seats though because the pricing at the Muny is so reasonable. It's incredible that they are able to produce such high calibre shows and keep ticket pricing affordable. We were lucky enough to see three shows this season including "Chicago." What I find most amazing about the Muny is the fact that performers from across the country audition and perform in the productions. It's my understanding that in the industry, folx know about the Muny and leap at the chance to perform on the historic stage. Arianna Rosario was the lead this season in "On Your Feet," a show she performed in on Broadway in New York. This isn't a simple regional theater. The Muny is an establishment in the musical theater community. Here are some of the highlights of things I love about the Muny: - The stage: the turntable in the center of the stage is truly one of a kind. They are able to do so much by turning sets around during the show. It gives you such a sense of space and movement. The Muny also has many video boards which help extend the stage in ways traditional set pieces cannot. - Fireworks: because the Muny is outdoors, they use fireworks often. - The amenities: we love getting a few Muny margaritas to keep cool during shows. I also love the 4Hands Intermission ale which is brewed each year specifically for the Muny. There are restrooms EVERYWHERE. It helps keep intermission lines shorter (for guys.) Finally, I will share a pro tip from my years of Muny patronage. Park by the Central Fields if you are entering through the upper Muny parking lot. Bonus points if you find a spot that is east facing (i.e. you should be looking at the Central West End hospitals.) This is the best parking to avoid exit congestion!

Neat distillery. Upon walking in we were greeted by the tour guide. He was finishing up a tour so he said we could have a seat and relax with a signature drink while we wait for our tour. We grabbed a cup of the signature drink for the day and took a seat and looked around. The drink of the day was wonderful. Very refreshing and smooth, it snuck on you though! It was made with their vodka. Mike our tour guide was engaging and seemed to know his information about the distillery. The background regarding the owner's story and how they have created a distillery using items that were at their disposal and added their own touch and avoided debt to create this awesome distillery was very interesting. The tour included info about their still process, barrel process, and bottling, which is all done in house. The tasting was great. Again he was able to describe the items we were tasting and was engaging. We purchased some of their Cardinal Sin Vodka. Really great tour. I definitely recommend.

Everything is great. Burgers are cooked how you want them. They have every topping you could ever want, and you get to feel like you have a little bit of control over your life by building your own if you'd like. Or opt for one that they've already built, if you're more the type who likes someone else to make decisions for you. That's the beauty - you have a choice! It's a neighborhood-y feeling kind of place, though it can get super crowded with out-of-towners and county-dwellers in the know. Get there early if you don't want to wait too long. And for the love of Pete get the fries with the Red Hot Riplet, That's an order! Stacked Burger Bar 7637 Ivory Rd 63111 314-544-4900 stackedstl@gmail.comsoning.

Happy Hour, Lunch Specials and Private Rooms are very popular @ Pan D'Olive. Monday thru Friday 4-7pm expanded Happy Hour Menu @ Onyx Bar. $7.95 Lunch Specials Daily , Monday thru Friday 11am-2pm. Wine Room is the perfect setting for private events with our Italian - Mediterranean Menus. History Established in 2012. So many seating options I just couldn't decide: front patio off the main street, side patio off the parking lot, a private dining area, balcony that overlooks the bar, bar seating with high tops as well as booths and low tables located just adjacent to the bar, so you still get the bar feel with a little more intimacy. Service was right on point from the hostess to the waitress who was very pleasant, personable and prompt. My top 3 P's by the way. I started with their Mussels which were succulent and doused in a delicious tomato, garlic & clam jus. I love garlic and this jus was swarming with whole cloves that knocked my little socks off. Moving on to the Trout; grilled to perfection. Mine was a little dry because I opted not to get the lemon butter sauce however; it was still very tasty. I chose sautéed spinach as a side and again I appreciated the whole garlic cloves & diced tomatoes added to create a medley of flavor. I enjoyed my dinner experience and shall return very soon. Stay tuned...

The Broadway Oyster Bar is a locally owned and operated establishment and has been for over 35 years. The Oyster Bar is widely regarded as the premier New Orleans' style restaurant, bar and music venue in the Midwest. BOB, as it is affectionately known by its many fans and friends, is housed in a building that was built in the mid 1840's and is one of the oldest buildings still in daily use within the city of St. Louis. During its colorful history, our building has had many functions including a family home, a boarding house, a Chinese laundry, a record store and a bordello to name a few. These walls have heard and seen it all. Some people feel that the building is haunted by spirits who, occasionally late at night, play good hearted jokes on the staff such as doors suddenly opening or closing or lights going on or off as if by magic. Then again, it just could be because the building is over 170 years old. However, our historic building has just gone through a renovation so we now have two outdoor patios that are covered and heated during cold or rainy weather and an expanded kitchen to better serve you. Our food has won numerous awards and readers' polls for excellence and features some of the most sustainable seafood available such as fresh Gulf and Blue Point oysters, Louisiana crawfish and shrimp, Prince Edward Island mussels, scallops and crabs. Our Cajun and Creole dishes are our versions of many of the traditional Louisiana favorites... History Established in 1978. Broadway Oyster Bar has been a locally owned and operated establishment for over 35 years. BOB is known for the best seafood, Cajun and Creole cuisines and for offering live music 7 nights per week. BOB is located in one of the oldest buildings in St. Louis, dating back to the 1840's. The building has been a private residence, a rooming house, a record store, a Chinese laundry and a bordello among other things. Now we offer a combination of great food, excellent service, outstanding atmosphere and live music to insure that you have a fun experience. Leave your attitude at home and come join us to see why we have been called "One of St. Louis' most beloved party palaces for over 30 years".

Lemay

Lemay, Missouri is a Census-Designated Place and located in South St. Louis County in the 63125 Zip Code area. It is about 15 minutes south of Downtown St. Louis using Interstate 55. Important roads for the community are Lemay Ferry Road, Interstate 55, Reavis Barracks Road, Union Road, South Broadway/Kingston Road/Telegraph Road and many others. Lemay History The area known as "Lemay" is just south of the St. Louis City limits, along the River Des Peres where it meets the Mississippi River. The history of this area precedes that of St. Louis. In 1700, Jesuit missionaries established a village at the confluence of those two rivers. Thus the name of "the river of the fathers" came into being. The road now known as "Lemay Ferry" had its beginnings in 1789 when the Spanish needed a road to connect St. Louis to a ferry located southward on the Meramec River. Francois Le Mais took over the operations of the ferry in 1834 and the official papers were filed as "Lemay" and the name of Lemay Ferry Road was established. Lemay Schools The community is served by the Hancock Place School District. The district has an Early Childhood Center, an Elementary School, a Middle School and Hancock Place High School. Notre Dame High School, a private, Catholic all girls school is also located in Lemay. Lemay Parks and Recreation Several St. Louis County parks are located within Lemay. Sylvan Springs Park, Lemay Park, Black Forest Park and Jefferson Barracks Park. The amenities that these parks provide the community include almost 520 acres of parkland, pavilions and picnic facilities, playgrounds, athletic fields for softball, baseball, football and soccer, basketball, volleyball and tennis courts, a nine hole disc-golf course, an archery range, a spray fountain play area, camping sites and more. Lemay - River City Casino The newest St. Louis area gaming establishment can also be found in Lemay, the River City Casino. Opened in March 2010, it features 2,000 slot machines and 55 gaming tables plus live entertainment and restaurants and is open 7 days a week. Lemay - Jefferson Barracks- Park, Cemetery, VA Hospital Also located in Lemay is Jefferson Barracks. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is the oldest operating United States military base west of the Mississippi River. Jefferson Barracks was established in 1826 to replace the deteriorating Fort Bellefontaine that was located to the north of St Louis. The first conflict that the soldiers of Jefferson Barracks were involved in was the Black Hawk War in 1832. The Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery is on the grounds of Jefferson Barracks and was officially established in 1866 as one of the first 14 national cemeteries created by President Lincoln for soldiers who died serving the United States. The cemetery holds the remains of both Union and Confederate soldiers as well as soldiers from all conflicts the United States has been involved in since then. On the grounds of Jefferson Barracks is the St. Louis VA Medical Center which provides health care and medical treatment to our nation's veterans. Jefferson Barracks Museum and the Missouri Civil War Museum are located within Jefferson Barracks
Two hundred and fifty years ago French explorers settled on the bluffs of the Mississippi river and called their town Carondelet after the governor of a Spanish colony in Louisiana. A melting pot of Spanish, Italian, Irish and Hungarian immigrants, Carondelet was annexed by the city of St. Louis 103 years later in 1870. Since then, the city has managed to blend its historical significance with a new found independence, along with an added touch of quirkiness. Located just a five minute drive from downtown St. Louis on South Broadway, a visitor will come to the neighborhood’s first welcome marker — Peat’s Eyez, a large four-color mural of two blinking eyes painted on the façade of a concrete building. Metal girders that run perpendicular to the street and that are part of the mural contribute to the blinking mirage as a car passes. Seven additional murals appear within the next two miles between Bellerive Park and South St. Louis Square Park. One of them features legendary trumpeter Clark Terry, a Carondelet native and original member of the Doc Severinsen band from “The Tonight Show.” The city’s newest mural will be painted by the community (July 8) from an outline done by artist Ellie Balk, on a building located at 5800 South Broadway. The street itself, which traverses along the riverbank, was part of the city’s original 18th century street grid and served as the main conduit for streetcars and passenger vehicles between downtown St. Louis and the newly developed Carondelet suburbs. In 1961, the construction of Highway 55 divided the neighborhood in two. Most of the businesses and landmarks that survived continue to serve as the anchor of the community today. On the east side of the highway, the eclectic Ivory Triangle anchors yet another commercial district, while the city’s crown jewel, Carondelet Park, sits west of the highway.
