The Best Charleston History Tour-10am
As the only Airbnb experience in Charleston with well over a thousand Five-Star reviews, I promise you're going to learn more about history on this tour than on any other tour in town. From modern-day Charleston, to how the city came to be, even mind-blowing facts about everything from Slavery to Santa Clause. But... we start by discussing what's important to you about history. What you like, and what you hope to learn. This allows us to focus the conversation where you want. I use a story format and I ask you a lot of questions to spur discussion. I'll walk you down the path of Charleston in a funny, interesting, sometimes irreverent way. I'm not going to sugar-coat anything, show you old pictures, or drone on about names and dates you won't remember. My job is to give you the facts and let you make your own informed decisions about history. We'll start at Waterfront Park and head south to the famous Charleston battery. We'll see some amazing sights and have some fascinating discussions about the very colorful history of the early fort of Charles Towne. When we’re finished we’ll end up very close to where we started, the proud new owners of the most valuable souvenir you can take home from your trip – knowledge. So come on ya'll, this tour ain't gonna book itself! :) (Note: if the tour is full, you can try booking directly on our website at Chucktown Tours)

Kayaking Tidal Creeks in Small Groups
Our experience is now self-guided. We'll meet on my private dock about 90 minutes before high tide and start with a safety briefing. Our kayaks are 8 or 10 feet in length and extra wide making them very stable. When your party is comfortable, you may depart down Simpkins Creek. You may stay in the various adjoining small creeks or make your way to James Island Creek which is the entry to Charleston Harbor. The marshes are both peaceful and beautiful any time of year. We advise you to use your phone's GPS for navigation but do provide a printed map as well as suggestions on best routes. You'll see birds like white Ibis (Curlews), Egrets, Herons, Ospreys, Summer Ducks or Mergansers (diving ducks) in winter. Likely you'll see fish jumping and miles of marsh-grass (brilliant green in summer) or gorgeous sunsets or dolphins and hear the call of Marsh Hens. Sit back and enjoy the serenity of the season and scene. The incoming tide creates an upper body workout, but your party controls the pace and duration of your gentle ride on the creek. We find that a private paddle with couples, families, or small groups creates the best atmosphere on this experience. However, we're happy to provide kayaks for groups of up to 8 people Please consider sunscreen, hats, sunglasses or gloves. Please note that times are based on tides and generally can't be changed. See ya on the dock!

Behind the Scenes of Shem Creek Shrimp
This walking tour led by Captain Bryan is not your average "sit there and shut up" tour where the guide won't even remember your name. Rather, after brief introduction, Captain Bryan will lead you on a historic journey of how Shem Creek came to prominence with its famous shrimping fleet and much more. Guest will start with some underlying history in Old Village. This important history lesson will allow for understanding the transition by the community from agriculture to shrimping. From there we will visit Geechie Seafood and their shrimp boats, beautiful reminders of the bountiful harvest to be conducted offshore. Furthermore, guests will visit another seafood market to understand the trials and tribulations of the industry. Towards the end of the tour there will be a cast net demonstration on how to catch shrimp. This is not a tour, it is an experience to immerse yourself in a culture that is truly intrinsic to the area. Take back history, culture, a small snack, but most of all guests will take from this experience an underlying appreciation for our local shrimpers and the history behind these hard working men and women. As Captain Bryan says, " Live the Local Life" and this experience is the perfect opportunity to do so. ***** Please note this is an active walking experience, guests with any walking difficulties should not join! 2 miles ******
Boo-Hag and Brews Ghost/Bar Tour
Is this a walking brew tour with a side of ghosts or a ghost tour with a side of brews? While guests will have to decide on that, we can tell you this is not an average "sit there and shut up " tour, but rather an opportunity to engage back and forth with a 7th gen. local. As a combined bar and ghost tour guests will start out at a local Irish pub where an appetizer will be provided complimentary and guests can order some delicious cocktails or beers (yes the Guinness is on tap ) while the guide goes over the basics of local history and the ghosts present in the City of Charleston. From there guests will walk by several historic graveyards and alleyways to hear in-depth stories of local ghosts and spirits such as the notorious BOO-HAG which is only known to Charleston. Guests will begin to understand why/how ghostly activity can take place after particular circumstances of love, tragedy, and horror. Eventually the group will make its way over to the relative safety of another bar. The tour will wind down at a hauntingly beautiful local park to hear about one of the first female serial killers. Don't stick around too long after... -Please bring valid photo identification (license or passport). -Experience is for guests 21+ only. -This experience is Not for guests with walking difficulties -One small snack provided at beginning of tour - Two bars are visited
