Appalachian Farm and Mountain Trail Ride
Ride. Restore. (Re)connect. Picture yourself meandering through the idyllic, mountain-framed grounds of a historic 300-acre farm and forest located in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The property is cradled in a pastoral valley with wooded mountains and a bubbling creek, and is home to some of the most stunning flora and fauna in the Eastern US such as goldenseal and spring ephemerals like trillium, violet, and ramps. Our trails wind over hilly oak savannah and gradually climb through mature hardwood groves near the border of Pisgah National Forest. Discover the special relationship between trees and trout, identify wildflowers and other plants and animals, and immerse yourself in an outdoor adventure that will engage all five senses. The two-hour horseback ride takes place on the Evans family farm in rural Barnardsville, NC. Lovingly referred to as “The Dairy,” the farm was in operation from the 1930s until 2008 and has a history almost as beguiling as the land it’s on. (To boot: it used to sell milk to the famous Biltmore Estate!) We will begin the trail ride by getting to know each other and our horses. After that, we will briefly explore the ins and outs of horseback riding. Whether you’re a seasoned rider or first-timer, a kid or a retiree, it doesn’t matter; anyone can do it. Then we’ll be off, gaining 400 feet of elevation and a lifetime of memories.

Each trip will vary based on the weather, what is open, and what the folks in your group enjoy most. Most trips include 2 breweries, a couple of eating options, and depending on the day, a bonus brewery or winery. Non-drinkers will have plenty of sight-seeing options nearby as well. Depending on the time of year, we may see otters, beavers, herons, friendly ducks, and colorful fish. Pet A Cow And Stay Awhile
Come cuddle a baby goats while they last. Join a local famer as he feeds up cows, chickens, ducks and goats. There is no better way to start the day than connecting with these amazing animals. Our philosophy is to observe the animals in our care and create ideal spaces for them to thrive. If you would like to visit at a different time just send me a request and we will accommodate you.
Baby Goat Play Date
Update Dec 2021: Kidding season is here, 80 baby goat have been born in the past 3 weeks! Call 704-941-7944 with questions. We will greet you at the pasture gate and welcome you into our Mini Nubian goat pasture where our herd is waiting to meet you. The baby goats will run and jump into your lap if you stoop down. You will spend your time holding, snuggling and loving on the goats! Our Moms are super friendly because they were raised as bottle babies. This means, they think they are humans we have not told any of them they are adopted. We are often asked how we keep up with all the names. You know the names of your children, right? Lol They will come when you call their name and we go for hikes through the woods without fences or pasture. Our Mini Nubian herd has the personality of a Dog. Just wait, you will see for yourself while you are visiting. We care for our goats dearly. This means bottle feeding every 2 hours for newborns that a Mom rejected around the clock or administrating supportive care every 2 hours for a goat we have rescued. We do whatever is needed to make sure our girls thrive and grow old with us. At the end of the day we hope you leave with the same “love of goats” that we have. You can continue to follow our goat journey by following “Cotton Bean Goat Farm” on social media.

Krishna Kirtan; Drumming, mantra meditation, and popcorn ;;;
Come on out to Flute Song Farm and feel the vibes! “Krishna Kirtan” is a practice of using specific mantras and ancient instrumentation (clay drums and brass cymbals) to balance masculine and feminine energies and awaken pure love within the heart, our true selves. It is an ancient topmost form of yoga, in which we stretch the heart rather than the body. During this mantra meditation / sound healing / wellness experience, we will have a short discussion on the philosophy and background of mantra (rooted in bhakti yoga). We will do a few different types of chanting, and instrumentation, followed by freshly made vegan popcorn snack. :) Open discussion and questions are welcome. We get a great circle every Thursday. The uniqueness of this chanting meditation lies in the traditional instruments (mrdunga drum and brass: karatala, whompers, gongs etc) and their corresponding unique rhythms. The mantras are also very esoteric and powerful. You have to experience it to feel it, and when you feel it you will know it! You can simply sit and experience it all or you can join in to your degree of comfort! Benefits are gained either way! So don’t be shy! Come enjoy our beautiful relaxing farm / barn house environment and find peace with us for a bit. If you're looking for a unique uplifting experience in the Chapel Hill area this is for you! Namaste.
