Your shepherd's hut is set in the enclosed, inner courtyard of the C14th castle ruins, your own private space for your stay. Atmospheric and perfect for relaxing, enjoying a quiet drink in the evening in front of the fire pit & gazing at a starry sky or the impressive runs. We have 3 other stays, for couples, around the castle available if you would like to visit with friends.

Grooms Cottage is on a private estate next to the ruins of Sheriff Hutton Castle. The property is in a peaceful setting but only a few minutes walk away from the village pub, deli&cafe and general store.
Our cosy cottage was completely renovated in 2021 and is in a great location for walkers, cyclists, and explorers. It’s about 10 miles from both York and Malton, Castle Howard is under 6 miles away, and the coast can be reached in under an hour.
