Helpful tips for a winning trip

Be considerate to your neighbors
To be a good guest, Airbnb asks that you stick to a few simple rules: treat your host’s home as your own, respect their standard house rules, and communicate promptly with them if an issue arises. To know what to expect during your stay, check your host’s listings description and house rules. This is a good place to find important information about rules like designated quiet hours, parking, and community norms.

Be mindful of excessive noise and refrain from playing loud music to avoid disturbing the local community. Respect off-limit areas, prohibited items, and “no smoking” requirements.  Be aware of whether you are allowed to have visitors during your stay. As a reminder, Airbnb does not allow disruptive parties and events and open-invitation gatherings. Hosts may not authorize a gathering that violates this policy. Airbnb can take action against guests and hosts who violate our policies.

Communicate with your host
If an issue arises that is impacting your stay, prompt communication with your host can often be the fastest way to resolve it. Before, during, and after a stay, you can reach your host through Airbnb’s messaging feature to discuss details of your stay, check any questions, or address concerns.

In case of an emergency
Dial 911 to request immediate assistance from police, fire, or emergency medical services.

Be aware
During the tournament, local authorities are mobilizing to prevent a possible increase in the risk of criminal activity, including human exploitation or trafficking. If you encounter a situation that you think could potentially be human trafficking, you can get help by contacting the Canadian Human Trafficking Hotline at 1-833-900-1010 anytime, 24/7. Please also report it to Airbnb by visiting Airbnb’s Safety Center, an in-app one-stop safety hub with key resources.

Protect yourself online
Protect yourself from any potential fraud by paying and communicating with Airbnb hosts through the platform and decline requests to pay off-platform. If you see something you think could be a scam, report it to the Canadian Competition Bureau at https://competition-bureau.canada.ca/ and to Airbnb.

Pack Smart
Pack a refillable drinking bottle (and portable water filter or purification straw) and a reusable bag you can carry with you during your trip. If you are attending a match, remember to check the guidelines on what you can bring into a stadium: For example, fans can bring empty, transparent, reusable plastic bottles, up to one (1) liter/33.8 oz. capacity into the stadium, and all stadiums follow a clear bag policy.

Waste not
Minimize your garbage as much as possible and dispose of your waste properly, utilizing recycle and compost bins if available. Always clean up after yourself and others.

Power down
Please use water and energy wisely. When you leave your accommodations, be sure to turn off your lights and unplug any appliances you aren’t using, including air conditioners.

Getting around
Consider walking, riding a bike, or using public transportation, if available.
